A method for offering detailed information by using a multimedia-based traffic and travel information message and a terminal for performing the same are provided to receive detailed information of a multimedia type about the point of interest or event which are obtained through TPEG information by transmitting the traffic and travel information through a digital broadcasting medium. TPEG(Transport Protocol Expert Group) information which includes a road traffic message and a multimedia-based traffic and travel information and is made in a hierarchical structure(S10). One or more events included in the road traffic message are displayed(S15,S20). A request for detailed information about one of events is inputted(S25). Through a specific one of the transmission media included in the multimedia-based traffic and travel information, the detailed information about a multimedia type is received from a multimedia data providing server, and the received information is provided. The detailed information about the events is multimedia object including at least one of audio, video and image. |
