A flux-switching machine stator (26) comprising two or more C-cores (34), each C-core (34) having two legs (40) and a back portion (38) joining the legs (40), and a permanent magnet (36) arranged between legs (40) of adjacent C-cores (34). Each leg (40) has a main portion (42) and a tip portion (44) further from the back portion (38) characterised in that the tip portion (44) of each leg (40) is angled relative to the main portion (42) of the respective leg (40).
