The apparatus (1) has a stand (2) for supporting the apparatus in a stationary condition. A clamping member (3) is supported on the stand to selectively retain an associated conveyor belt. A belt processing member processes a conveyor belt end retained in the clamping member for interconnecting the belt processing member to the conveyor belt end. A rail (4) is detachably mounted on the stand and the clamping member, and the belt processing member enables the movement along the conveyor belt end retained in the clamping member. An independent claim is also included for a method for clamping and processing conveyor belt ends.
