An adaptor 20 for attaching a switch body 10 to a steering column tube 100, has engaging portions (deflectable snap claw 21, notch 20b) to enable it to lock to each of the switch body and the steering column tube, with engagement occurring at both engaging portions when the switch body 10 is moved towards the steering column tube 100. The adaptor 20 is first temporarily assembled to the switch body 10 with locking portion 13b in hole 20a (fig 4A), and then the assembly is pushed onto the steering column tube 100 so that locking portion 13b engages notch 20b and snap claw 21 engages concave portion 100a. A spring 30 can reduce backlash between the switch body 10 and the adaptor 20. Adaptor 20 may be resin or metal, and the snap claw 21 can be integral or an insert moulded metal clip (22, figs 5B and 5C). |
