A vehicle transporter unit 1 comprises, a platform, attached, in use, to the chassis 2 of said unit to form a flatbed onto which a vehicle can be driven; a mechanism comprising one or more gas-filled bags 40,41; and one or more ramps 26,27, in use, to the platform; wherein when said unit is attached to said vehicle chassis, and said one or more gas-filled bags are attached to operate directly or indirectly between the said vehicle chassis and said vehicle chassis's rear axle; a controller for controlling in a first mode of use the inflation of said gas-filled bags to induce an upward deflection of said chassis and hence of said attached platform; and for controlling in a second mode of use the deflation of said gas-filled bags to induce a downward deflection of said chassis and hence of said attached platform; said one or more ramps being attached to the back of said platform to engage the ground surface on which the truck stands and allow a vehicle to be driven up the ramp(s) and onto the platform. |
