A biphenyl-modified acrylate having high refractive index and a photocurable resin composition containing the same are provided to ensure high refractive index, excellent adhesive power to various substrates, high hardness, and excellent abrasion resistance, and to obtain an optical film used for industrial optical lens, optical lens for glasses and other optical materials. A biphenyl-modified acrylate having high refractive index has a biphenyl structure within a molecule by reacting a biphenyl-modified polyepoxy compound and an acrylate compound containing a carboxylic acid. The biphenyl-modified polyepoxy compound has at least one acrylate group or methacrylate group within a molecule and contains at least one molecule of biphenyl. The photocurable resin composition comprises the biphenyl-modified acrylate; a reactive monomer having at least one vinyl or acrylate group or metacrate group in molecule; and a photopolymerization initiator.
