A method and a system for selecting a tuning frequency of a mobile communication terminal are provided to enable a 1xEV-DO Rev. A terminal to tune a 1xEV-DO Rev. It is determined whether additional channel information exists by decoding channel list information in a sector parameter message transmitted from a base station(S402~S406). A common masking value and bit count is performed by extracting a masking value per a channel(S412, S414). And a tuned frequency is selected(S416).
