A steer-by-wire system for vehicles is provided to control the direction of either side of tire by using the cornering force generated in one side when the cornering force delivered to the other side of tire is cut off. A steer-by-wire system for vehicles comprises: a steering operation part in which a steering wheel is combined; a steering gear part in which a gear-box is mounted; a wire(30) delivering the cornering force with each motor(40); an electronic control part for delivering the necessary cornering force to the motor; a locking part(70) installed in order to face the tire of the either side; and an operating bar including a fixed bar(62) in which the wire is connected and a slide bar(64) combined in a bonding groove formed in the fixed bar.
