PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus reducing an operation amount required for ultra-resolution processing by obtaining second high-resolution image data corresponding to (n+1) sheets of image data obtained by adding processing target image data to n-sheets of image data, in an operation for two sheets of image data such as first high resolution image data and processing target image data. SOLUTION: A controller 6 in the image processing apparatus is provided with: a compared image generating section 12b for generating compared image data (k<SB>n+1</SB>) indicating a post-positioning difference between the first high-resolution image data (h<SB>1→n</SB>) generated from n-sheets of picked-up image data, and the processing target image data (x<SB>n+1</SB>); and an image updating section 12c for generating image updated data by repeating operations, until the value of formula (8) obtained by adding the compared image data to a product of the image update data (g<SB>n+1</SB>) and a predetermined constant, the image update data (g<SB>n+1</SB>) being equivalent to the difference between the second high resolution image data (h<SB>1→n+1</SB>) generated from the n-sheets of picked-up image data and the processing target data and the first high-resolution image data, becomes smaller than a predetermined value, and by adding the generated image update data to the first high-resolution image data to generate the second high resolution image data.
