PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monomer for ophthalmic lenses which is capable of providing ophthalmic lenses and contact lenses superior in transparency, oxygen permeability, and deformation recoverability. SOLUTION: The monomer for ophthalmic lenses is expressed by formula (X) wherein: R1represents hydrogen or a methyl group; R2represents an alkyl group (l=0 or 1) and; R3represents a group containing a siloxanyl group.
