HYDROGEN GENERATING APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR STARTING THE SAME

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen generating apparatus which can reduce nitrogen oxides in a combustion exhaust gas, and to provide a method for starting the same.

SOLUTION: The hydrogen generating apparatus 10 is provided with: a heater which has a combustion chamber and generates a combustion gas by burning a mixed gas of a combustion fuel and combustion air in a combustion chamber: a preheating evaporator in which a raw material and water are heated by the combustion gas generated in the heater and a mixed gas of the raw material and steam is generated; a reformer for generating a hydrogen-containing gas by passing the mixed gas generated in the preheating evaporator through a reforming catalyst heated by the combustion gas; and a water trapping part which is arranged between the preheating evaporator and the reformer and traps liquid water discharged from the preheating evaporator. In the apparatus 10, the water trapping part is installed in the vicinity of the combustion chamber.
