PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device capable of securely taking out a large number of vertically-placed sheets one by one and carrying them to the downstream side. SOLUTION: In the paper feeding device, on a base plate 2 capable of supporting sheets S in the state where the sheets S are stood with one outer peripheral side of the sheets S facing downwards, a pair of right and left side plates 3 for guiding both side edges of the large number of the sheets S and a front plate 4 for positioning the first sheet are provided. On the downstream side of a sheet storage part 1 in which a sheet taking-out port 5 is formed between the lower end of the front plate 4 and the tip of the base plate 2, a suction drum 30 for sucking the first sheet S, taking it out from the sheet taking-out port 5 and carrying the sheet S is provided. A plurality of air injection holes 60 are provided on the front plate 4. During sheet carrying to suck the first sheet S and take it out from the sheet taking-out port 5 by the suction drum 30, high-pressure air is injected from each of the plurality of air injection holes 60 to form an air film between the front plate 4 and the first sheet S.
