Class 93 A rigid base to which a preformed sheet of thermo-setting resinous material is to be bonded is formed so as to conform generally to the shape of the preformed sheet to provide a solid backing therefor over the major part of its surface, leaving however at least one space between the base and the sheet so that any distortion in the sheet due to the preforming operation may be accommodated or taken up. As shown, a preformed sheet 10 is applied to a rigid base 11 shaped so as to leave a space 12 therebetween. Adhesive is applied to the sheet or the base or both and the whole is pressed in a vacuum press, any distortion in the shape of the sheet being taken up by the space 12. |
