<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming method and an image forming apparatus for forming a high-quality image whose image density is stable from a highlight part to a solid part. <P>SOLUTION: The latent image potential of a plurality of patch patterns formed on an image carrier is detected (S5), the plurality of patch patterns are developed and then the developing amount thereof is detected (S6). A linear approximate expression is decided from the result of detection in S5 and S6 so as to calculate developing gamma and development start voltage (S8), and target potential by electrification and target potential by exposure are decided so that latent image characteristic for a write value may be the one fit for the developing gamma (S9), then developing voltage is adjusted based on the target potential by electrification and the target potential by exposure (S10 to S13). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI |
