PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vertical pickling device for steel sheet which can reduce spot-shaped surface defects caused by an acid liquid in an electroplating line. SOLUTION: The vertical pickling device for steel sheet comprises: a sink roll provided in an acid liquid and guiding a steel sheet; an upper roll provided at the upper part of the liquid face of the acid liquid and guiding the steel sheet or further energizing the steel sheet; and a cover lifter provided at the upper part of the upper roll, and in which at least the face to be the upper roll side is composed of a synthetic resin.
