BACKLIGHT UNIT AND ITS DRIVING METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To minimize deviation of color temperature of a backlight unit.

SOLUTION: The backlight unit comprises: a white LED 110 for generating light; an LED module 120 having printed circuit board which supports and drives the white LED 110; a sensor 300 for detecting color temperature of the white LED 110; a heating element 130 connected to the LED module 120; and a controller 400 for controlling the sensor 300, the LED module 120 and the heating element 130. The controller 400 puts the white LED 110 into operation simultaneously with putting the heating element 130 into operation and stops the heating element 130 when the color temperature of the white LED 110 measured by the sensor 300 corresponds to that of steady state of the white LED 110.
