PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein a constitution of an encoder becomes complicated if a sensor or a mark is added to a linear encoder to correct a reference position displacement in a carriage main scanning direction. SOLUTION: A sub tank 35 is provided with an ink full tank detection filler 205 displacing according to an ink remaining amount, and one end of a carriage 33 is provided with a fixed detection filler 306. An ink full tank detection sensor 305 on an apparatus body side can read fillers 205 and 306. If a displacement amount from an initial position is greater than a predetermined distance when the ink full tank detection sensor 305 reads the fixed filler 306, it is determined that a reference position of a carriage main scanning direction is displaced, and a processing where the read position of the fixed filler 306 is made as a reference position is performed.
