<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission device and an optical transmitter improved in degradation in reliability of optical communication resulting from mismatching of impedance caused by a production failure of a printed wiring board, or variation in termination in an element, without the need for external components. <P>SOLUTION: An optical signal from a light-emitting element 2 enters an optical transmission medium 10, and then it is received by a light-receiving element 20a in a light-receiving section 20 arranged at the other end of the optical transmission medium 10, and converted from a current into a voltage by a first amplifier 20b before being outputted to a wiring pattern 21. In order to improve deterioration of a signal resulting from mismatching of the characteristic impedance of the wiring pattern 21, the relation between the characteristic impedance of the wiring pattern 21 and the extinction ratio of the light-emitting element 2 is grasped, and occurrence of jitter is reduced by controlling the light-emitting element 2 at the optimal extinction ratio. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
