824,671. Milling. KEARNEY & TRECKER CORPORATION. July 17, 1956 [Sept. 23, 1955], No. 22137/56. Class 83 (3). A machine tool comprises an eccentric pin 50 movable by power means 60 to reciprocate a member, such as the cutter spindle 5 of a milling machine. The pin retracts the cutter when a cutting traverse of the work-table 8 has been completed. The forward position of the cutter is determined by the abutment of a collar 42 on a slide 40 against a shoulder 43, the slide 40 being adjustable axially by a screw 32. The oscillating vane-type hydraulic motor 60 which moves the pin 50 is controlled by dogs 83, 84 on the work-table 8, acting through switches 77, 78, solenoids 75, 76 and a valve 65. The cutter is rotated through an elongated pinion 23. |
