PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the cleaning performance of a cleaning pad for cleaning a charging wire and stabilize the potential of charging of an image carrier by the charging wire. SOLUTION: A charging wire cleaner includes: a cleaning pad 111 that cleans the charging wire for charging an image carrier; a slider 101 that is a support for supporting the cleaning pad 111; and a screw shift 103 that is a moving means for reciprocally moving a slider 101 parallel to the charging wire 102. When the slider 101 is in a specific position in its reciprocally moving range, the cleaning pad 111 and the charging wire 102 are separated.
