PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of preventing biased abrasion of a photoreceptor and maintaining stable image quality over a long period of time. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus at least comprises: an electrophotographic photoreceptor 7, which is an image carrier; a charging means 8 for charging the electrophotographic photoreceptor 7; a latent image forming means 10 for forming a latent image on the surface of the charged electrophotographic photoreceptor 7; a developing means 11 for forming a toner image by developing the latent image formed on the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor 7 with a developer containing a black toner, a transparent toner, and a carrier; a transfer means 12 for transferring the toner image formed on the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor 7 to a transfer body 20; and a cleaning means 13 containing a cleaning blade for removing the residual toner on the surface of the electrophotographic photoreceptor 7 after the transfer. The image forming apparatus satisfies the relationship of A<B where A (% by mass) represents the amount of an external additive agent added to the black toner, and B (% by mass) represents the amount of an external additive agent added to the transparent toner.
