PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a direct dye which makes it possible to attain dyeing of various colors which are powerful, chromatic and aesthetic, has low selectivity and has high resistance to various stimuli (a shampoo, light, sweat, a permanent wave solution and the like) to which the hair is thought to be susceptible, and is easily erasable. SOLUTION: A composition for coloring keratin fibers comprises, in an appropriate dyeing medium, at least one compound selected from the leuco compounds of formula (I), the azomethine dyes with a pyrazolinone unit of formula (II) corresponding to the compounds of formula (I), their mesomeric forms, and their addition salts with an acid and their solvates.
