PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To alleviate effects of delay of paper post-processing as much as possible and appropriately align a paper bundle, in a paper stacking apparatus for stacking carried paper sheets. SOLUTION: Paper sheets carried one by one are supported in a standing position by an accumulating means. Every time a paper sheet is accumulated on the accumulating means, an alignment member is reciprocated by the first number of times to touch and align paper sheet edges in the paper sheet width direction at a predetermined position. With respect to the predetermined number of paper sheets before the final sheet to be carried to the accumulation means, the alignment member is reciprocated by the second number of times larger than the first number of times.
