PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel assembly for a boiling water reactor capable of preventing disconnection of a water pipe lower end plug from a lower tie plate with a simple constitution without requiring an expensive complicated processing or a working process. SOLUTION: This fuel assembly for the boiling water reactor is equipped in the lower end plug of the rectangular water pipe, with a cylindrical or columnar upside reduction part, and a downside engaging part having one or more projection parts on the outer circumferential surface of a cylindrical or columnar member linked to its downside; and is also equipped with an internal peripheral shape, wherein a lower end plug insertion part for the water pipe provided on the lower tie plate upper surface receives insertably the downside engaging part rotated around a center axis in an angle range determined beforehand relative to a water pipe setting mounting state, and protrusion parts are formed, for regulating upside movement of the lower end plug in the state of being positioned around the upside reduction part and being overlapped on the projection part upside when the downside engaging part is rotated reversely as much as the angle portion after insertion and returned to the setting mounting state.
