PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flat panel detector (FPD) protecting a phosphor layer from chemical deterioration or physical impact, preventing characteristic deterioration with elapse of time of the phosphor layer, and keeping a contact state between a scintillator panel and a planar light receiving element to be uniform, excellent, and stable. SOLUTION: This flat panel detector wherein a scintillator plate having a scintillator layer provided on a substrate, and the scintillator panel comprising a protection layer for coating the whole surface on the scintillator layer side of the scintillator plate are arranged on the planar light receiving element surface, has a characteristic wherein the bending elastic modulus of the outermost layer of the protection layer is in the range of 50-2,500 MPa.
