Laser diode (1) provides beam conducted by fibre (2) to probe (2,3). Bent section (2.2) of fibre passes through detection section (3). Bend is dimensioned so total reflection inside fibre is partially or completely removed and the beam can exit from the fibre. Branched off beam is fed to detectors (4,5). Detection part (3) has groove of same cross section as fibre with bend radius dimensioned so that in the bent area of fibre, total reflection inside fibre is partially or completely removed and the beam can exit from the fibre. Control unit (9) contains diode drive (15) and monitoring circuitry (16). |
