<p>A pneumatic tire in which the level of air column resonance sound is lower than that of conventional pneumatic tires. Large volume elongated holes (11) are formed in one side wall (10a) of a main groove (1), and small volume elongated holes (12) are formed in the other side wall (10b). The width (w1) and the depth (d1) of each large volume elongated hole (11) are at least not less than 0.4 mm and are more than 0.05 times and less than 0.25 times the width (W) of the main groove (1). The distance (p1) between two adjacent large volume elongated holes (11) is at least not less than 0.8 mm and is more than 0.2 times and less than 1.0 times the width (W). The width (w2) and the depth (d2) of each small volume elongated hole (12) are at least not less than 0.2 mm and are more than 0.01 times and less than 0.05 times the width (W). The distance (p2) between two adjacent small volume elongated holes (12) is at least not less than 0.4 mm and is more than 0.04 times and less than 0.2 times the width (W). The heights (h) of the elongated holes (11, 12) in the direction of the depth of the main groove (1) are 50 - 80% of the depth (D) of the main groove (1).</p> |
