PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a durable mold for molding glass optical devices. SOLUTION: The mold 1 comprises a base material 10 made of a cemented carbide composed mainly of tungsten carbide (WC), a first cover layer 12 formed in contact with the base material 10 and containing a first component being at least one kind of the metal element out of tungsten (W), tantalum (Ta) and molybdenum (Mo) and a second cover layer 14 formed in contact with the first cover layer 12 and not containing any of the metal elements of W, Ta and Mo.
