PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve general versatility, by adjusting to increase/decrease a maximum urging force without changing a charge amount of compressed gas, in a gas spring type balancer. SOLUTION: The gas spring type balancer comprises: a push type gas spring 11 urging a rod member 14 in a direction get out of a main body case 12 by charged compressed gas; a cylinder member 50 having a cylinder chamber 52 communicating with a gas operation chamber 13 of the gas spring; a piston member 54 housed in the cylinder chamber 52 to be axially movable and receiving compressed gas pressure of the cylinder chamber 52; and a piston position adjusting mechanism 55 changing an axial position of the piston member 54 continuously to adjust the compression gas pressure in the gas operation chamber 13.
