PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor integrated circuit for a printer by the use of which a tandem printer using a smaller storage capacity RAM or a tandem printer making availability of a RAM during printing larger is obtained. SOLUTION: The semiconductor integrated circuit for the printer 15 for driving a tandem type printing engine 13 is a circuit which supplies data to be supplied to the printing engine 13 first to the printing engine 13 without storing compression data concerning the data in the RAM.
