PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for correcting the circumferential length of a metal ring where, when the correction of the circumferential length of a thin sheet-shaped endless metal ring composed of a maraging steel used for a belt for a continuously variable transmission and impartation of a circular arc shape are performed by one behavior, the circular arc shape can be securely imparted with high precision. SOLUTION: In the method for correcting the circumferential length of a metal ring, a metal ring W is stretched around a driving roller 2 and a driven roller 3 displacing in relatively separated directions, a straightening roller 4 provided at the position between the rollers 2, 3 and also in the inner direction of the metal ring W is displaced in a direction crossed with the displacement directions of the roller 2, 3 and also in a direction in which the metal ring W is to be stretched, and the metal ring W is stretched, thus the circumferential length of the metal ring W is corrected, and simultaneously, a circular arc shape Wa is imparted to the metal ring W. During a period from the start of the plastic deformation of the metal ring W to its completion, the moving speed v<SB>3</SB>of the straightening roller 4 is reduced to a speed at which the metal ring W circulates n times (n denotes the integer of≥1), thus the straightening roller 4 is abutted n times on all the periphery of the metal ring W.
