PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filtration apparatus which is capable of effectively removing a solid matter clogged in a hollow fiber membrane by a detergent and which is capable of efficiently conducting the washing of a hollow fiber membrane. SOLUTION: The filtration apparatus is provided with a membrane module 2 having a hollow fiber membrane 1 and a diffusion part 3 arranged at the lower side of the membrane module 2. The filtration apparatus conducts the filtration by immersing the membrane module 2 in a liquid to be treated to pass the liquid to be treated into the inside of the hollow part from the hollow fiber membrane 1 and washing the hollow fiber membrane 1 of the membrane module 2 by diffusing air jetted into the liquid to be treated from a diffusion part 3. The apparatus is further characterized by washing the hollow fiber membrane 1 with the detergent by supplying the detergent in the hollow fiber membrane 1 of the membrane module 2 to the opposite direction to the stream of the liquid to be treated while repeating the feed and feed back. Thus, it can strip the solid matter by the stream of reciprocation that the detergent moves back and forth and can remove the solid matter clogged in the hollow fiber membrane 1 effectively.
