The device (16) has a pair of line arrangements (21, 26) connected at an output side of a compressed air receiver (14) of a compressed air system (13) of a commercial motor vehicle. The arrangements are fluidly connected with a fresh gas system (5) or with a waste gas system (6), at an input side, of an internal-combustion engine (1) i.e. propulsion engine, of the vehicle. Input and/or output sided connections of the arrangements are interrupted by using a controllable valve arrangement (22) that is controlled based on an evaluation result of a condition detection device (17).
