<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reflective polarizer which polarizes visible light, improves the efficiency of using visible light by reflecting a polarized light component incapable of being transmitted and can be easily manufactured. <P>SOLUTION: The reflective polarizer 30 is provided with a substrate 31 having a transmitting property and a polarizing layer 32 formed on the substrate 31. The polarizing layer 32 includes a plurality of magnetic fine particles 322 and a resin 321 containing the plurality of magnetic fine particles 322. The plurality of magnetic fine particles 322 respectively have ferromagnetism and are oriented in one direction in accordance with magnetic field orientation. Further, each of the plurality of magnetic fine particles has a major axis, reflects polarized light components having an electric field vector parallel to the major axis direction and transmits polarized light components having an electric field vector vertical to the major axis direction, of visible light. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
