PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control system for a vehicle's automatic-transmission by which torque-down control in an inertia phase can be stably started at the most effective starting timing. SOLUTION: In an up-shift, a torque-phase starting is detected on the basis of a vehicle speed VSP or change in input-shaft rotational-speed NT in the transmission. Torque-down request signals are issued at a point of time when a specified timeγhas passed from the torque-phase starting. The issuance of the torque-down request signals is stopped at the point when the gear ratio has become lower than a specified gear ratio. The specified timeγis set variably on the basis of at least one out of the kind of the gear-shift, the load of a power source, and the temperature of hydraulic fluid for the automatic transmission.
