PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To execute at an optimal timing torque up for reducing torque pull-in shock during a torque phase without being influenced by variation in hydraulic response or the like. SOLUTION: The start of the torque phase is detected based on a vehicle speed or a revolving speed of an input shaft. At a time point when a predetermined period of timeγhas elapsed after the start of the torque phase, the torque up is started. The predetermined period of timeγis so set as to be variable according to gear change conditions such as the kind of gear change, engine load, the temperature of hydraulic oil of an automatic transmission ATF. When it is detected, based on a change of a gear ratio calculated on the basis of the revolving speeds of the input shaft and an output shaft of the automatic transmission, that the torque phase has been finished and shifted to an inertia phase, the torque up is terminated.
