PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing an oil pan capable of avoiding the shortage of strength of a die. SOLUTION: The center axis 2b of a die hole 2a which determines the direction of the center axis 4a of a boss mounting hole 4 is tilted to the bottom wall 11 of the oil pan so that the center axis 2b of the die hole 2a is separated from the bottom wall 11 of the oil pan with distance from the peripheral wall 1 of the oil pan. Therefore, the wall thickness of the die bottom part 2c positioned between the die hole 2a and the bottom wall 11 of the oil pan is increased with distance from the peripheral wall 1 of the oil pan. When the mounting attitude of the drain boss 5 is tilted to the center axis 4a of the boss mounting hole 4, the drain boss 5 is brought in a horizontal attitude. The boss mounting hole 4 is formed along the outer peripheral surface 9 of the drain boss in such a mounting attitude as to be tilted to the center axis 4a of the boss mounting hole 4 by boring before mounting the drain boss 5.
