<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a socket having a heat-dissipating function in itself which is applicable to various connecting forms. <P>SOLUTION: The socket is constituted of a contact member 310 for establishing electric connection between an LED element 100 and a substrate 200, a base shell 330 housing the contact member 310, and a cover shell 350 retaining the LED element 100 by being engaged with the base shell 330 with the LED element 100 in a contact state with the contact member 310.
