PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a zoom lens having high performance being adapted to a compact digital camera having a half angle of≥38 degrees, F number at a long focus end of≤6.0, a magnification ratio of≥6 times, and the number of pixel of≥10 million. SOLUTION: The zoom lens is constituted in such a way that a first group G1 having negative focal distance, a second group G2 having positive focal distance, a third group G3 having negative focal distance, a fourth group G4 having positive focal distance, and a fifth group G5 having positive focal distance are sequentially arranged from an object side or a sixth group G6 having negative focal distance is further arranged on an image side of the fifth group as a fixed group. The first group has a reflection optical element, and the zoom lens has an aperture diaphragm on an object side or an image side of the third group G3 or in the third group. When changing power from a short focus end to the long focus end, an interval between the first group and the second group is shortened, an interval between the second group and the third group is extended, an interval between the third group and the fourth group is shortened, an interval between the fourth group and the fifth group is extended, and the fifth group move onto an image side.
