PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of forming high quality images by preventing an ink-jet nozzle from being exposed for protection when an ink head is attached to and detached from the body of the device. SOLUTION: A printer 1 comprises the body 2, a line head 21 having the ink-jet nozzle 22 and detachable from the body 2, and a cap 51 capable of taking both attaching and retreating positions against the line head 2 and detachable from the body 2 and the line head 21. The line head 2 is detachable from the body 2 with the cap 51 attached to the line head 21. Consequently, other than normal operations, the cap can always be attached to the line head 21.
