摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a soft material alloy for a perpendicular magnetic recording medium having an excellent saturated magnetic flux density and an amorphous nature, and a high-PTF value target material which can be efficiently used during magnetron sputtering in the alloy. SOLUTION: There are provided the alloy for a soft magnetic film layer in the perpendicular magnetic recording medium containing one or two or more kinds of Zr, Hf, Nb, Ta, and B, and consisting of the balance Co, and Fe and inevitable impurities, and satisfying the following formula 1 and formula 2, and the target material: formula 1; 0.20≤Fe/(Fe+Co)≤0.65(at.% ratio), formula 2; 2.5 at.%≤(Zr+Hf+Nb+Ta)+B/2≤10 at.%, where B: specified to≤7%.
