摘要 898,905. Electrically heated panels. GREER, P. H., and UNIDARE Ltd. Sept. 12, 1958 [Sept. 17, 1957], No. 29287/58. Addition to 864,655 as improved upon by 864,656. Class 39(3) In or for a floor, wall, ceiling and the like, a heating panel comprises a resistance wire 3 passing loosely through flexible tubing 4 preferably of P.V.C., the internal diameter of the tubing being approximately three times that of the wire 3, and the thickness of the tubing being approximately equal the internal diameter of the tubing; the wire may be nickel-chromium or chromium-iron-aluminium. The heating element is ih the form of a grid of which portions 4b project along one lateral side of the panel. Portions 4a lie between two preformed plaster board laminae 1, 2 and are embedded in plaster 7. A deflector 8, e.g. aluminium foil, is located where shown or between one of the boards 1, 2 and the plaster. Additionally, the board from which maximum radiation is desired may have a relatively high co-efficient of heat conduction and the board on the opposite side may have good insulating properties. A number of panels may be assembled together by means of troughing having channels which receive the edges of the panels and which have apertures 10 to allow the portions 46 of the heating element to project into the trough interior. Holes 16 facilitate the attachment of brackets or ties, and a cover plate 13 is secured by screws (not shown). In forming a ceiling, Fig. 6, the troughing is secured to the joists 18 by ties 17, and is preferably filled with soft plaster before attaching the cover plate 13 which may carry electric light pendants 21. A screed of plaster 20 is finally applied. In a modification, Fig. 7, the cover plate 13 is carried on a partition 22 and is spaced from the trough so as to leave a space through which the heating element portions 4b may project. The trough is secured to stringers 23 between joists 18 to which the panels are nailed. In repairing a fault in the element, the filling material in the trough is broken out and a new piece of resistance wire threaded through the insulating tubing in place of the faulty section of wire.
