<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing device and method, capable of performing sharp and high image quality high resolution processing. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing device comprises a temporary high-resolution pixel value calculation part 101, an area division part 102, a corresponding position calculation part 103, and a pixel value conversion part 104. The device calculates an estimated pixel value of each pixel of a temporary high-resolution image by interpolation processing based on pixel values of a reference frame, divides the reference frame into an edge area, a texture area and a flat area based on the pixel value of each pixel of the reference frame, successively sets each pixel of the reference frame as a target pixel one by one to calculate, based on information for the divided area containing the target pixel, a corresponding position in the temporary high resolution image corresponding to each target pixel with decimal accuracy, and corrects each estimated pixel value so as to minimize the difference between a trial pixel value of the target pixel determined from the temporary high-resolution estimated pixel value located around the corresponding position of the target pixel and the pixel value of the target pixel to obtain a corrected pixel value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
