PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable printing device preventing the intermediate folding or the jam of a recording material by controlling to eliminate an excessive load on the recording material during the return carriage of the recording material. SOLUTION: By stopping a paddle during the return carriage of the recording material, the intermediate folding or the jam during the return carriage of the recording material is prevented.
