PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an armrest device for a chair which can simplify an attaching structure and attaching work of a lid body without increasing the lateral width of the armrest body, and at the same time, have a good appearance when the lid body is opened, and in addition, prevents the lid body from being removed by a mischief or the like. SOLUTION: On the armrest body 4 which is provided on the side of a seat, an article housing space of which the upper end is opened is formed. The upper end opening section of the article housing space is made openable/closable by the lid body 5 which is pivotally attached to the upper end of the armrest body 4 for this armrest device for the chair. In the armrest device, a part of a shaft 27 which pivotally supports the lid body 5 is fitted in a groove 28 which is provided on the top surface of the armrest body 4, and a pressing fixture 29 is pressed to the part of the shaft 27 from above.
