A gasket having a cross sectional shape longer than it is wide and is prevented from falling over and buckling. The gasket 1 is installed in an installation groove 2 formed in either of two opposite surfaces and having a cross sectional shape that is longer in the depth direction of the groove than it is wide. The gasket 1 has a meandering section 1a meandering in the width direction of the installation groove 2 and also has a rib 1b provided projecting from the inner periphery 1c and/or the outer periphery 1d of the meandering section 1a.
