<p>A wireless data transfer device (105) includes a hard disk (115), a hard disk interface (120), and a transmitter (135). The hard disk interface (120) is configured to retrieve read data (125) from the hard disk (115) and to create a bit-serial signal (131) from the retrieved read data (125). The bit-serial signal (131) conforms to either the serial advanced technology attachment protocol or the serial attached small computer system interface protocol. The transmitter (135) is configured to operate at a selected carrier frequency greater than 50 GHz, to operate at an effective isotropic radiated power level less than or equal to 40 dBm, to receive the bit-serial signal (131) from the hard disk interface (120), to modulate the bit-serial signal (131) using amplitude-shift keying modulation to substantially create directly a signal (151), and to transmit the signal (151).</p> |
