The method involves comparing measured color values with desired color values, and controlling color dosage in inking systems (16, 17) of a printing machine (1) by using a computer (5). The color dosage is regulated in the inking systems of the printing machine by attribution of influencing variables of the regulating process of a uniform controlled variable. The influencing variables in the computer are converted into a uniform controlled variable, where the influencing variables are full tones and/or tonal value increment.
