<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency of editing of a document wherein a markup symbol and a text portion are mixed. <P>SOLUTION: In this machine translation editing device, when a word separated from an original text is a tag, a tag kind decision part 222 decides the kind of the tag. A word list generation part 223 shows whether each of the separated words is the tag or the text portion, and stores the word into a buffer part 34 associatively with kind information showing the tag kind when the word is the tag. When generating a translated sentence of the original text, an original text/translated sentence word list generation part 225 restricts the tag reflected in the translated sentence to an in-sentence tag, generates an original text word list including a group of the words except an outside-sentence tag, and a translated sentence word list including a translated term of the word as the text portion and the tag added to the translated term of the word added with the in-sentence tag among the translated terms, and stores them into the buffer part 34.
