PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seedling tray returning apparatus which is placed at a side of a riding transplanter, transporting an empty seedling tray from the back of a traveling body forward after supplying seedlings to a seedling bed of a planting machine, and free from obstruction of an operator walking on a front step at a side of a hood. SOLUTION: The riding transplanter has an endless conveyor 5, extending along a side of a traveling body 4, from the front side to the back side of the body 4 and capable of supplying seedlings N from a levee side to the traveling body, wherein the seedlings N are transferred on the upper forward path of the endless conveyor 5 to the back of the body, and the seedling tray 36 is transferred to the front side of the machine body, after supplying the seedlings N to the seedling bed 17 by the lower return path of the endless conveyor 5.
